Help with terminology

Rip and Liz generally are used when setting the TE in alignment: Example: 4 rip- 30 dive Y pop. Tells the team our formation and to what side the TE will align. It can aslo simply mean RIGHT OR LEFT.

In my experience, motion is usually referred to as flat or deep. Jet is a term used to describe the speed at which you want motion man to employ. Example: 3 rip- z flat jet liz, 52 QUICK SLANT. TELLS THE TEAM THE FORMATION, SETS THE TE, TELLS THE Z RECEIVER (USUALLY THE WIDEOUT ON THE TE SIDE) I WANT HIM TO FLY ACROSS THE FORMATION FROM RIGHT TO LEFT TO EITHER BECOME A RECEIVER ON THE BACKSIDE OR TO BLOCK.

Deep motion is usually referred to as "orbit" by the younger generation of coaches now days. But, like anything else, terminology differs from camp to camp.

we use a system similar to this. 1st letter indicates the guy going in motion (i.e. Zig, Zap, Aim, Flash, etc.). 2nd letter (for most part) indicates direction (i.e. I = inside, A = at, O = outside, etc.)
