Have any of you tried this or seen this? Wide/tight zone out of Split Backs? It looks good on paper but I worry about the timing of the play. I also wonder if the back getting the ball can get downhill and make a cutback. What do you think?

I was on a staff some years back that ran the split backs veer and also ran tight zone from split backs. We had some success with it. We timed it up by running it much the same way you would run a sprint draw from split backs by having the back "get big" and await the handoff. I hope this gives you a picture of what it looks like.
I'm sorry. What do you mean by "getting big"? this may be a dumb question.
