Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
When we are under center and have Inside veer called we like to run it vs a 2/1 tech. The guard can take the DT by himself and we can release the Tackle to the Backer. QB read the 5. Great play. We really don't like to run veer vs a good 3 tech because it is hard to combo block him and the LB on the play. If we got a 3 tech, we'd always change the play to Midline. QB reads the 3 now and we like to fan block it. Another good play. Much easier blocking.
On this site most coaches say they have a hard time running midline out of the gun, especially vs a quick 3 tech. Assuming this is true, is there another good play to combine with veer if you have it called to a 3 tech? Thanks in advance, History 10
We are a 1 back team. The first thing we do is read the outside inverts and run it at the empty invert. We pair veer with tackle trap. Veer goes to the side the FB is aligned on, tackle trap away from the FB's alignment. We would run at the side of the empty invert, regardless of the 3 tech. This has worked extremely well for us.
If we were just getting destroyed by the 3 we would run trap at him, which is paired with gun toss. Trap away from the FB's alignment and toss to the side of his alignment.
