Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
SIMPLY a base 2 deep 5 under zone in which the MLB tries to go with the inside receiver (usually TE) down the middle, eliminating THAT weakness IN Cover 2.
Seems to me with the MOFO sending the TE down the middle and the Mike running with him, ostensibly,
sending a backside receiver, be it a WR or slot guy into the MOF also would cause them problems. When they see that happening they would probably play Man on the backside, I know that is what I would do because if they stay in zone they have a problem in my view. Your opinion?

That is a GOOD way to attack it. Play action isn't bad either (freeze the MLB).
The coverage is big in the NFL right now, but even Tampa Bay plays it less than 50% of the time. The NFL won't let you catch them in something (predictably) if they can help it!
It also helps to defend the deep Post cobined with a under 15 yard Dig route we see so much here at the high school level. The Mike can really jump hard on the Dig. We use it sparingly . . . usually only on longer yardage situations.
