Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have read many gun option teams use an "answer sheet" to help in play calling. It sounds like a thought out plan of attack in to use vs. certain defenses, 4-2 cover three, man to man blitz etc. Anyone have ideas or willing to share "answers" to certain defenses. Thanks.
I know some coaches will say there are basic "answers" or good plays vs certain defenses. Good coaches always have plays that favor their offense regardless of how the defense lines up because no defense can take away everything. For instance if you see a loose corner in cover 3, the hitch pass is always good.
I know option teams like to run Midline to a 3 tech. and veer to a 1 or 2 tech. Most tems like to Trap a 3 tech. Passing wise 4 vertical routes vs cover 3 is hard to defend. Vs a bear look some coaches will like to run counter to the SE side because the numbers favor the defense on the TE side. I'm sure there are lots of plays that favor the offense vs certain defensive looks and I think the "answer" sheet is just doing your homework in advance so that you and your staff don't have to think of these plays on the spot on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. The "answers" have already been worked out. It is now a matter of identifying what type of defense you are facing and then looking at your "answer" sheet to get the best possible play vs that defensive look. I hope this helps you, History 10
Thanks coach. We are in the process of doing what your referrring to in making decisions in how to attack defenses. I am especially interested in what patterns and combinations to attack certain defenses using the gun offense.
