Not sure if this has been talked about, but I would love to learn more about the Dive Sally play. I have viewed the video on the jetsweep site, I really liked what I saw. I have no prior knowledge of this play and am interested in hearing all about it, what else people run with it, etc. Thanks, Andy.
The sally play is a great counter type play. It is used by many coaches that run the wing-t and flexbone option. We use it primarily off the dive(ISV). We have also used it with our FB belly/down play. We have blocked it two different ways, first way and most used by wing-t coaches: block the faking side, which starts as playside aggressive Gap-On- Backer and make it look like the FB dive, backside which becomes the coutner side, block with pass-protection, giving the dline an upfield rush to the outside, then release to LB level, if possible. Fake to the FB and give to the wing/slotback coming towards you(counter action) and running to the A or B gap area based on alignment, etc. Make sure you FB, QB and Hb carry out good fakes to draw the defense and have them pursuing hard. The second way we have run it is blocking both sides aggressive and trying to make a hole at the A-B gap area, based on defensive alignment. Block the counter side On- Area- Away and Gap- On- Out. Take them where they want to go and have the counter back read the blocks and look for the opening. This is for teams that don't take the pass prot. fake blocks or for oline that can't give a look with a fake pass prot. Good luck.
Try cross meshing with the FB away from the "Draw" side and running it as a QB Sally with the QB keeping
Also try running Slot (Navy) Trips and cross meshing with the FB away from the Draw side. have the Slot come underneath the QB and run it as a flip to the Slot coming back to the Draw side.
