Last summer someone e-mailed the plans for some basic powerlifting platforms that a woodshop class could make. Looking for those plans again (the shop teacher lost them!). If you have plans and weren't that person I would love to see them also. Sean.Crosswhite@prlandusd.net.
we have built them before using 2ft. long pieces of 2x4s. You would have three of them across the bottom, evenly spaced. The distance from the top of the first one to the bottom of the third one should measure 2ft. The next layer is made up of 2ft. long pieces of 2x4's laid in the opposite direction of your base pieces. enough pieces should be laid so that they form a flush 2x2 square face for the platform. The top layer would be some sort of padding level cut 2x2 ft. Either rubber mats or pieces of conveyor belt type material will be good. Finally, nail down from the top of the padding all the way through to the base pieces. It is perfectly fine (and actually recommended) to have the nail heads on top of the padding. That's it.
You could make them 2x3 ft. platforms if you wish but 2x2 should be enough.
