Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What cuts do you teach your WR's? I saw another post about this. I agree that the 45 degree angle seems like it would hurt someone. What do you teach as far as in breaking cuts, out breaking cuts, and comeback cuts? Just trying to learn.

Depending upon the TYPE AND DEPTH of the route is what all stems and breaks are predicated on. For example: 5 yd outcut= WR drives at INSIDE SHOULDER OF DB AND UPON HITTING THE 5 YD STRIPE FROM THE LOS, HE THROWS HEAD FAKE INSIDE AND T SQUARES OUT TO SIDELINE. (WE DO NOT ROUND UP AS MOST DO, BECAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS FELT THAT SEPARATION FROM THE DEFENDER IS KEY ON ANY OUT ROUTE.)
INBREAKING ROUTE= REGULAR SLANT FOR EXAMPLE WR DRIVES AT OUTSIDE SHOULDER OF DB. WHEN HE HITS HIS DESIRED DEPTH (USUALLY 5 YDS FOR US) HE THROWS SLIGHT HEAD FAKE OUTSIDE AND DRIVES HARD INSIDE. QB MUST DELIVER BALL IN FRONT OF DB AND BEFORE THE WR GETS TO SS OR LB.
IF MONSTER IS SETTING ON TE SIDE, QB AUTOMATICALLY KNOWS, AS WELL AS, THE WR ON OPPOSITE SIDE, WILL BE GETTING THE BALL.
When we run verticals, curls, hooks, posts, post corners, etc. against ZONE coverages, wr's are taught to seek the void in the zone created by the DB's own movement within the zone he is responsible for. To work his way AWAY from the defender into the void and make the catch, then run! To run through a zone is to get decapitated as a receiver! When we run these routes against MAN cover schemes, we are always looking for the receiver with the best separation from his defender in reading the progression as a QB. The ability to shake a defender with SPEED is a highly sought after attribute, but also just the ability to do whatever it takes to get the desired separation is equally important in my opinion.
