Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I'm wondering if there is a "standard" theory for split back teams against a three tech. I know a lot of "I" and flexbone option teams like to run midline vs. a 3 technique. Obviously, you can still run IV against a 3 tech, I'm just curious if there was something split back teams would rather do.
"You cannot expect greatness unless you sacrifice greatly."
Frankly, depending on where the end is, double down on the three tech, slip up to backer (vs a 4-4, blow him away vs a 4-3) and run OSV. The other thing I do to screw up a 3 tech is to run the cutback play...which if you aren't familiar to this, has backfield action of veer, but the back takes the handoff as he cuts back across the face of the 3 tech--who is being double teamed by the G and T--and explode through one of the A gaps--depending on where the C is moving his man. The other thing we did was run toss, pulling the G and T to the toss, and then come back to what we called toss dive, where the QB fakes the toss and hands off to the backside back who is launching over the C. These two plays were as much to deal with overly aggressive ILB's as well. I never did like running ISV to a three tech, though.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
Blocking rules are pretty simple. G and C are basically BOB--C's block is the read for the back. He has to first be sure that the Back-side A is walled off, once it is he can move to second level. Backside T should give the End over him a shot and then slip to second level. Playside T fires out just like Outside Veer. Playside, it should look like outside veer, but backside it is more like a straight A-gap dive. If you have any other questions email me your phone number, and I can give you a call.
