Let me start by saying THANKS to everyone on the site for posting and helping us inexperienced guys, especially the ones I have messaged. A little about me - never played or coached zone. Been given the opportunity at a new school that has not run it either and most of my lineman are soph. and freshman. They say they are no stupid questions so I am going to begin testing that theory ALOT on here.
I have read so many post back to last year in the last few weeks that I have gotten myself confused (which is not hard to do).
My questions:
1. Blocking the inside zone from four wides. If I am running it to a 3 tech. I know how do I account for the 1 tech. and the two LB's. I do not see how I can seal the one off with my BSG and still account for the playside LB. Want my center need to stay with the double team longer than needed to reach second level PSLB or in theory am I looking to combo up to playside LB with C and BSG with BST sealing off BSLB and my back making the cutback so all I want is to create flow to seal for that cutback? Also, rules, technique and terminolgy used by the Oline within this scheme.
2. Now when I add a TE to the mix with 3 WR's in the gun. What changes? Also, rules, technique and terminolgy used by the Oline within this scheme.
3. Adjustments will be hard for me at first until I get the feel. This I expect. So I am looking for rules that lead me through the inside zone period with or without a TE that are universal to our offense no matter which set or situation we are facing defensively.
Excuse the typing mistakes, I can not type or spell (thats why I prayed my way through english classes).
THANKS I APPRECIATE THIS GREATLY! and Let my dumb questions begin. I may be the number one poster within weeks.
