We are primarily a slanting defense. Last year we crowded the L.O.S. and slanted by ripping through. I have also heard some people back their down three off the line to help with the slant move. My question is how do you teach the technique of slanting to your defensive linemen? How for off the ball are you? What is your stance? Please describe the steps involved.
Slant Teaching Progressions: we align in a 4 pt true sprinters stance, the same a sprinter about to run the 100 meter dash..place our hind foot in the direction of the slant(toe to instep)...we take a 45 degree directional step up field...if we get pressure we rip turnig our shoulders and getting our hips in the hole...if we do not get any pressure slice off of the down block adn attack the first thing that shows
we only back our kids off 12 to 18 inches if they are getting way too deep with their penetration...i hope that i have been of some assistance to you.....:music;
