Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
have always taught shade techniques from even front (4-2)...this year may have to play my best DT head up on center to help real slow other DT control FB oriented teams. He would play both A gaps with either my weak end eagled down or my weak ILB in an "up read" position. This idea came from U of Arizona's desert swarm from years back. Anyway, what I am looking for are drills, reads, keys, stimulus/responce for the head up technique...thanks for your help guys
This can get very technical, but the GOOD ones smash through the Center's head in the direction it goes (keeping your helmet outside his helmet in the direction it goes)!
The first man I ever put in the NFL from my pro minor league team was 6'4 348 lb nose tackle who was benching 655, and was an imovable object playing a zero on the center with both A gap responsibilities!
I like Bills terminology of "smashing through the centers head" and keeping your head on the outside of the center's in the direction he is moving, because that is exactly how it is done. If your in a small school enviornment where the little fast guy at nose can play well, that's one thing. But, when you play with the big boys, you need a "rock" at nose who can move his feet, is bull strong, and loves to smash people!!! As soon as it is discerned the nose can play a zero and is really a bull, he will be doubled teamed the rest of the night. So, therefore, he must be not only super strong, but super well schooled at defeating the doubleteam and getting to the ball carrier. THE NOSE IS A SPECIAL POSITION AND ONLY THE BEST CAN REALLY PLAY IT. Just my opinion, as always.
