coaches-we are installing the G package this spring. What would be the most basic ilb and olb drills to
use? Our ILB are reading G's to near back, our OLB's are reading emlos to near back to #2. I am looking for the best/most simple keys/reads drills progression for both positions.
Strongly suggest you keep the BALL in the reading progression! It is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT READ A LBer HAS!
We key the ball & near back. You can UNDER KEY the Guards in the 4-4, but since BOTH are covered (in 4-4) , the read becomes less reliable than say in a 3-4 (when the guards are UNCOVERED & give a clearer picture).
A LOT depends on if you are playing man OR zone. Ball & surface (G's, etc.) become more important in ZONE, & you MAN & ball are more important in M/M!
