I live in Fayetteville Ar, I really am looking for a place to student coach. I helped out before with the Ola Mustangs, down by Russellville Ar. I have helped out with A summer camp in 97 directed by Coach Jhonson, fromer Shiloh D-Coach and now Springdale D-Coach. I will take any advice on any leads to a school that likes Student Coaches. I really would like to help coach, not just be a water boy. I konw I'm a young coach and I want to work my way up. I know starting out that the Student coaches get the title of water boy, but I really would like to do more then just carry the jugs and tape the ankles. Thanks for your help. Also if anyone wants to share anything with me I would like all the advice I can get in my early years of coaching.

Football isn't a contact sport; it's a collision sport. Dancing is a contact sport. --Vince Lombardi
I started my coaching career 2 years ago in Madison Wisconsin. While a student at UW I always had a passion for football and coaching. So I decided that I really wanted to do it, and I was going to do anything I needed to do to coach. Madison is a large city as many of you know and they have 4 public high schools and one private high school that field football teams. I went on the Wisconsin Coaches Association web site, and found the coaches from the Madison schools and decided to e-mail them. I got in contact with Coach Joe Gothard from Madison La Follette high school and he saw the passion I had flowing in my e-mail. He wrote back to me and asked me to call him. I called him that same day and set up an interview/meeting with him for the next afternoon. So I went to meet with him and he offered me a job. He said he wasnt exactly sure what he would have open yet for the next season but he wanted me to be a part of his staff. Eventually he offered me the an offensive and defensive line coaching position with the freshman. I took the job and ran with it. I am not saying that this will work for everyone but it worked for me. So my advice is to just try to get in contact with the local coaches and express to them their desire. Coaches are always looking for enthusiastic people for their staff.
