Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
For the QB, I believe that the warm-up is the most important thing to help the QB's mechanics. So our routine is:
1 - 10 yard square, high knees up, turn inside - shuffle, high knees, turn inside - shuffle 2 - 10 yard square; lunge, turn inside carioca, lunge, turn inside carioca 3 - drop down the line (53 1/3) over and back
All 3 of these drills, make sure the QB's are working on shoulder rhythm.
4 - option pitches down the line (53 1/3) over and back 5 - drops on a line right and left (5 3-step; 5 5-step stretch; 5 5-step on time) - want centers and receivers for this. The throws are very easy, just spinning the ball.
Other drills that we use with the QB's include using the "agiles", shuffling through, up and backpedal, running through, etc, again working on should rhythm.
Sorry, coach, re-read your post. The drills that we would do with the QB's/RB's include: 1 - Throw swing routes. The QB must push back when they throw away from their armside; i.e., left for the right-handed QB 2 - Work on our sprint draw - "hollywood" handoff 3 - Work on midline, veer and load; meshes and reads etc. 4 - Work on gun option; meshes and reads, etc.
