Can you explain that technique?

I believe the freeze step referred to by Coach Campbell refers to the initial step taken by a linebacker that balances up his stance on the snap from a stagger (outside foot back). This step, sometimes referred to as a read step is to allow the player to make his initial read without overreacting.
