Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coach Campbell - we have been discussing with other coaches how they handle blocking schemes. We have used blocking rules with calls to adjust to certain fronts or schemes. Do you use rules or some other system? I really like your Ace-Deuce-Trey combo schemes - are these called at the line or designed into the scheme? Thanks and a special not of thanks for this website - It is one the best things I ve seen for Fotball coaches professional growth. Thanks again and keep up the great work!!
We use Coach Campbell's concepts with our line we use his near ear rule. Since we run 6 plays in our base offense, the line calles become second nature. For example, when the come up to the line and the QB checks to load vs. a 1-5-9 to the TE, you'll hear our TE and Tackle call Trey, the Center and PSG call Ace Ram or Lion, and the Backside calling Base. It becomes second nature. For our kids, We try to teach them to understand why we are calling the play and that helps them understand the line calls. Our openside tackle knows he will have a deuce block with the guard if we run load to his side because we would only run load to a 3 or 4i. He knows he is inside releasing on veer becuase he has a 1 and 5 on his side. I guess the kids memorize as they get more reps. But they learn the near ear rule first.

Coach Varley thanks for the feedback. The near ear rule is an easy concept for determining block calls. For an offensive lineman find the nearest ear and put your helmet on it, the footwork will be dictated by the type of play called. Coach Vint has taken this concept an run with it and has done quite well with it. By the way great manual you put together. Coach CAmpbell
