This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We will be facing a team in 2 weeks that runs the under and over fronts, some people call it the shade defense. You will always have a 1 and 5 tech to one side, and a 3 and 5/7 to another side, a MLB in in a 10 opposite the 1 and a 30 LB opposite him. A drop end and SS to each side, cover 3 behind it.
This team has a freak for a MLB. He is big and super fast and physical. We run inside and outside veer, as well lead, power, toss, trap, counter, and a few other complimentary plays. We are considering running "freeze" option to slow the MLB down. Does anyone have any opinions on how to attack this defense, and / or run the freeze option?
They are running cover 3 weak - SS has flat on the weak side.
A. The drop end has to cover the flat. Play action and throw to the flat - Y or RB. Also, the CB will probably be loose on Z (pro set) since he has little help, so hitches, slants, etc are good play.
B. Run counter trey to slow the MLB down.
C. 3 step passing, speed option, draw and sprint draw, etc. will take the MLB out of the game a bit.
D. Motion a RB to trips from pro set to the drop end's side - he is in a dilemma - two recievers out wide (flat is open when 1 receiver runs-off the CB) and the threat of being outnumbered at the POA if he leaves his 9 tech to get wide. They may drop the SS back deep and slide the FS over. Throw to the SE who has probably has man coverage.
