Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We had our second scrimmage today and did very well. We got beat on bump coverage because the cb stopped moving his feet until the wr went verticle (as you said). Here's an issue: we have no real inside lb's in our 44 scheme. We have been blessed with great ones for a long time however now is the opposite-our d-line and secondary are very solid, our outside lb's are good, inside slow. I had to get blitz happy due to the lack of support. We were wondering if you ever had these issues and what adjustments you made. I have no one else to really play in the middle. I moved them up to 3 1/2 yards so they would cause a pile up. I slanted and blitzed about 75 to 80 percent of the time. I know it's not sound all the time, but it was our only option. Thanks for your input.
I just now saw your queston, I could not get in the site for two days for some reason.
Sure, we all have had to deal with personnel problems that you are experincing at ISLB.
My solution, Coach, was to work that much harder with what you are forced to work with, and just do your best to get him to improve.
I do not like the idea of moving your backers up to 3.5 yds as that makes it real easy for the inbreaking routes in the 3 -5 step game to hurt you. If the Mike is slow to begin with, that just makes it that much further for him to have to revert in order to cover the MOF against the pass. If the Mike can move LATERALLY fairly quick, you may want to think about changing him and your Will backer around some.
Whenever I found myself in one of these situations, I would try various and sundry things to make chicken soup out of chicken manure.
