Dick Arbuckle who was the Special Teams Coordinator @ ASU for many years has a series of videos with drills ehich are very good. Also Paul McCord who was a Special Teams Coach @ Hofstra I-AA (late 90's)and formerly of the JAGUARS and BILLS has a series of tapes with drills as well.

Coach, where can I purchase this video from? My kick off teams are really getting torched on middle returns and I've moved alot of kids around to try and A good kick off team. But its not working just yet.
Put 4 WEDGEBUSTER'S in the middle of your coverage formation and give them one assignment: TAKE OUT THE HEART OF THE RETURN BLOCKERS AND EXPOSE THE BALL CARRIER TO YOUR TEAM MATES WHO CAN THEN MAKE THE TACKLE.
FOR THESE WEDGEBUSTER'S, PICK THE BIGGEST, FASTEST, MEANEST, TOUGHEST GUYS ON YOUR TEAM
WHO REALLY LOVE THE PHYSICAL ASPECT OF THE GAME!!! THE KIND OF PLAYERS WHO REALLY ENJOY CONTACT, AND TELL THEM TO HOLD NOTHING BACK AS THEY WIPE OUT THE LEAD BLOCKERS OF THE MIDDLE RETURN.

Try kicking off from a hash to squeeze the return team a bit. Plus as Coach Easton said you need to put solid kids in the middle (I put 2 I know he said 4). These are kids who have both speed and size and WHO WILL NOT SHY AWAY FROM Contact! When teams run Middle returns on you its because your players are running around there wedge/wall. I have 2 Kids on the flanks who's responsibility is to speed through the first line and break up the back wedge as it forms, then may 2 TANKS in the middle who break up or stop that middle-front line. If these 4 guys can occupy 6 blockers you've destroyed the middle return.
The double wedge middle return is used often b/c its the easiest to coach, but if the kids have courage it's also the easiest to stop.
