Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are a 3-4 defense we are playing our rivals this upcoming week. We have an answer to all there formation but his one.
they run belly w/ a kick out w/ the PSG
dive option( on option they send their PS slot to inside LB)
load option
trap
counter lead ( no one pull but if you have an inside shade on the PST they will fold it)
belly pass
and the slot pop pass
sweep
boot
I had an answer to all of these except the option to me the will get #'s o the edge after the dive and get a run lane on the load.
any help with alignment or keys would be appreciated
Coach, stop defending what they do, and ATTACK what they do....if you are in a 50(3-4)you need to utilize directions(slant) with your d-lineman.....if you do not wish to use directions, have your d-line attack and react to the type of block that the o-line is uitlizing(down=squeeze reach=fight outside base=attack and peek inside)...your backers can do the same to the guards...if they pull outside then fill the gap, if they pull inside, press the line of scrimmage and come over top of it...if they block down, or attempt to base block, fill it up.........
we would ATTACK using an under front with a 3 tech weak side. This year we have tilted the 3 tech to help stop midline and to penetrate hard to FB veer weak. The fold by the wing can be good for the off. but we think the 3 tech crashing helps us out. We would also run a down scheme to cov 3 with our safeties. If they attack you more to the weak side, scheme to flip SS and FS to get an extra "tackling" player coming down to that weak side. Just some thoughts for you!
Ball placement(hash)....or the tight end or lineman that they prefer to run behind....most offensive coordinators are extremely right handed, so no matter what formation they give you are running a high percentage of their plays to your left.....:cool;
since you seem to be MORE concerned about their run - play 6 in the box! They have only 5 inside blockers & the RB. You can defend the pass with the remaing 5 in a NUMBER of ways (Cover 3, Cover 1, Cover 0/Blitz)!
