Any four defenders front side is almost a cutback 100% of the time. The push to four defenders frontside are more extreme angles of push with no rotation backside so this sets the running back up for the cutback backside. Coach CAmpbell
With the same alignment on the backside, would it be an Ace block with the C and PSG on the 2 with eyes on PSLB. Deuce by BSG and BST on 2 with eyes on BSLB. BSTE cutting off the BS 5tech and boot away to hole the BS 9? Also what if you didn't have BSTE?
You can always spread them out and throw the ball like northstang mentioned but the question was what do I do If faced with this front and the answer would be to cut it back, this becomes a nautral rule for your running back who probably has cut the ball off the backside butt of his tackle who was inside with his block. Coach CAmpbell
I totaly agree with spreading it out and that's what we usually do along with option etc but I am still curious how there will be a cutback on it. What keeps the 5 tech from stopping the cutback if the tackle is zoning with the guard?
Stick must be able to boot the backside 5 technique with the QB this helps hold the end. If the end is getting involved and not checking the QB then go ahead and run the bootleg this will keep him honest. Coach Campbell
Wouldn't the backside Guard and Tackle be zoning the two tech up to the backside LB'er? If not who blocks the LB'er? The only thing I can figure out is get them out of it by formation or have the backside TE cutoff the 5 tech and boot the end. Thanks for getting involved on these responses because I've been very curious how this would work.
This is how I would do it from a one back offense. TE bases the 9, OT bases the 5, OG and Center combo the 2 to playside linebacker, backside OG and OT combo the 2 tech backside to backside linebacker. RB would aim to the inside hip of OT and cut it back if the playside linebacker flows to the b-gap. If the playside OG gets off of the 2 tech and gets to the linebacker, it can hit the b-gap.
