Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We started running the Zone Dive that is described in Tim Stowers book late last year. I understand that the play has the offensive line blocking inside zone. The question I have is what are the backs reads. I don't think I did a good job coaching this and would like to know what some of you that run this offense do thanks in advance. Oh our back is lined up at 4 yards.
I don't know if this will help, but we run the play that you are talking about. The RBs progression, for us, is "veer, square, cutback." The RB stays on his "veer" path for as long as possible, which will take him to the hash, numbers, sideline and endzone. If his veer path gets cut off, then he will "square" his shoulders and stay on this path for as long as possible. If this new path gets cut off, then he will "cutback" against the grain. This progression has been so good to us that our RBs have the same progression on ISV.
