There are very few states, and schools, in which the coach doesn't have teaching responsibilities. As for Texas, Coach Campbell is correct, it's usually only the 4&5 A's, in which the coach doesn't have teaching responsibilities. Most likely, the Head coach will have other responsibilities, like the AD job to go along with the coaching position.

A few of the large schools, in which I interviewed with (Midwest area), the head coach would have administrative duties (study hall supervision, assistant AD duties, hallway supervision, detention/in-school suspension). But most of the time, this is far and few in between.

The only time I have heard of anyone just coaching, with no teaching, happens in the gulf coast states & far south. But once again, it's the large schools that do this.

If you just want to coach and get paid a salary to live on, you might want to try work your way up thru the college ranks. But even then, unless your the head coach of a big school, you might have to teach a few courses!

Here in Florida the best place to search for jobs is fhsaa.org in the classifieds section. It is the best coaching job boards I have yet to see. Anyone have one for New York State?

In Mass you can go to miaa.net , I think it also covers some of Conn. too?
