Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I play a 5-2 cover 4 with my OLB's as the force men and my strong safety stacked over the TE at 6-8 yards. This year, I plan on slanting a lot more. We used to be a base and blitz team but now we are getiing smaller lineman so we are going to the slanting scheme. My question is this, should I have the OLB be involved in the slant/angle stunts and have the strong safety assume force or keep the OLB in his base technique and have the strong safety fill on run his way.
Yes Sir!!! you have to invole the olb with the synchronized movements...He will make plenty of plays coming underneath the TE when the directions are away...and he will jack the TE when driections are to him...
Coaches, thank you for your responses. I have another question. Do you let the backside OLB run free on slant/angle away from him, or do you hold him accountable for bootleg, reverse, etc.. Secondly, what do you do with double tight, power I formation.
When the slant is away, he is the Rush End...As he pursues the ball we tell him to never to allow a Back cross his face...This takes care of all pressure beaters...boots/screens/reverses :light;
If he is in the direction we are slanting TO - just play BASE 5-2 9 technique. If he is away from the direction of the slant - play a TOUGH ANCHOR 6 technique.
