Anybody out there run buck sweep out of the shotgun? I have heard Rich Erdelyi speak on this but would like to get some ideas from someone that has done it on the high school level. Any ideas or information would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
I have never ran it from the gun but I really like the idea of it. I would run it from a 2 back pro set and put the receiver on the tight end side in motion. He would fold down on the end like the wing back in the wing t does and leave the rest of the blocking scheme the same.
I am looking at running it to a TE/Wing into the boundary with two receivers to the field. The ball carrier would be the inside receiver to the field. He aligns in a position to allow the QB to ride the back with an inside zone fake to the two receiver side and the receiver hits the mesh point just after the zone ride. He then follows the pulling guards to the short side. I am simply looking for effective misdirection against teams that overshift to the wide side. We get that look a lot. This is exactly as Erdyli from Carnegie Mellon describes their version of the play.
