This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I wanted to get in contact with you ASAP about some issues I am having with my option game. I do not have your email or number to call. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read and help me out.
I'm sure Lou will get right back to you as soon as he reads your post. He is up to his ears interviewing for a head coaching position that he would really like to have. Is there anything I could help you with?

I am interviewing as well. Just left one yesterday in Southern Ohio....we'll see. My question is concerning the outside veer. I run a different type of offense based on the IV, Midline, with ower off tackle. I do not use a TE I have a slot in that position with flat backs. I like this set because it allows me to run the IV in either direction with some compliments to each (like arcing the HB on the LB, causing a combo when running the IV). I have 6 formations 3 are unabalanced and 3 balanced-I can run all my plays out of all 6 formations-passing is a little tough but we make do. I have your basic run n shoot set ( which I really like) as well. My question is this can I effectivly run the the OV with that slot or do I have to make him a TE? I have tried to incorporate schemes that will not require my H (slot) to block down on a DL. For example when we run power we kickout the DL on the OT not EMLOS, if the OG is covered the OT will Deuce, if the OG is uncovered our OT will basicaly pull out side for EMLOS or release inside (depends on what we see) Anyways, my question is this can your run the OV with the H and can you run the power with the H? I do not want to put the OV in and tell me H that he now has to combo, but on power he won't. I think it would be more efficient to do it one way or the other. What do you think?
Hey Coach,
We run a similar offense to yours, mainly out of Flexbone, with the same main plays. When I started participating on this forum last Winter, I learned about the OSV and asked our HC why we don't run it. He's stated the same problem that lots of coaches state here is that a FB at 4-5 yards creates a very bad angle to get a read. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I've wondered if we can do it too. We don't have an Option that hits the C gap, or wide, just our Pitch which is more like our Power.
Where I am at now we run a pro con flat back set and run the OV. It was our biggest play last year and we never pitched. I am just wondering if teams run the OV with a slot and not the TE. Vs. 43 we had a lot of success with the OV vs. the 50 no much because the combo on 5 tech was not good. I guess when the OG is covered run the OV and when he isn't run the IV, at least that is the rule I have been given.
I echo coach Lo's reply.....we run it the same way.
At the beginning of last season, our HC did not believe in the OV. Once he finally allowed us to put it in, he asked why we didn't make him do it sooner.....
IN MY OPINION YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS RUNNING IT WITH THE SLOT AT ALL. I, PERSONALLY, PREFER THE TE AS I ALWAYS RUN IT FROM THE "I" FOR THE MOST PART BUT DO NOT SEE ANY REASON IT SHOULDN'T WORK JUST FINE THE WAY YOU OUTLINE. MAYBE A TWIST WOULD BE TO MOTION THE SLOT ACROSS THE FORMATION TO THE BLOCK, EVER TRY THAT? THAT COULD BE A NEW WRINKLE THAT MAY CATCH SOMEONE OFF GUARD!

I never found that "bad angle" when running the OSV to be a problem. To what, exactly, are they referring, do you know? We just always ran it with the FB path hitting the outside leg of the tackle. If they are referring to the QB having a bad angle to read, the point method eliminates that completely! Pleae let me hear from you on this if you have the time.
