Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
More teams in our league are starting to adopt the Inside & Outside Zone Runs. We'll face 3 that I know of right now. I'm looking for suggestions on how to stop these runs.
That is a question ever coach in America is looking for the answers to. My suggestion is not so much to "TWEAK the X's & O's", BUT to teach good TECHNIQUE thru many reps AND recognition vs. them in practice. Cover 4 gives good secondary run force vs them!
Whatever you do must come from within the framework of YOUR basic defensive package. You cannot put in "special defenses" to stop stuff that you may only see 3 times a year. Adjust YOUR defense to it!
Coach Chew, Oneback has some valid points....the only thing that I can add would be to get Penetration and your Second and Third levels have to be in Position to find their run fits....How long have you been at Toledo Scott?
Most offenses prefer INSIDE ZONES vs teams that hit & read & flow fast.
Most offenses prefer OUTSIDE ZONES to teams that try to penetrate, &/or play tough downhill.
It has been OUR experience that the IZ is more effective if there is a "bubble" over the OG, and the OZ is more effective if there is a "bubble" over the OT.
Thanks fellas! This is the second year that I'll be at Scott (2007). I was at Toledo Woodward for 2 years before Scott.
That is the beauty of the Zone isn't it? You take what the defense throws at you and make it wrong! I like the Cover 4 idea...bring more than they can block. And as always, good fundamentals & just teaching your kids to play tough will keep you in it.
One tech to the TB side out of gun, this kills the cut back, frre the ILB. The only issue with this tend sto be the dart. We found chasing the with BS DE flat and clipping the BS ILB to QB has worked great, gives a false read.
