Best way to go about this.

I think anyway you can get into contact with the coach. I know I am always looking for aspiring young coaches who are willing to volunteer until they get more experience. Where are you from?

CoachE, I'm in the same boat as just starting out, I'm in MN. and really not to knowledgeable of a lot of the high school program's here as far as coaches to talk to. But, I'm ready willing and able to get'er done if given the opp.

Thanks for the responses. I am in Utah right now which isn't that big a state for football. There are four high schools that are close in proximity to me. Right up the road from my work less than a mile is one of the more dominant high schools in the state. I have met the head coach there last month. He had mentioned about going to coach the sophomore team. However he said to email him this month and as of yet no response from him.

Second school just down the road from where I live had their head coach quit, but their last three seasons haven't been good at all. In fact last year they won only one game and actually got sent down in classification because they were actually a smaller school than the 5A class they were in. However they did just hire a coach from Penn. that has been successful to come out so there could be some great opportunities to help rebuild.

Third school has a more average record, but historically has won 5 state titles. However, I know the cousin of the head coach and he is getting frustrated there so I don't know how long he would be there.

Fourth school is the sister school to the first school I mentioned though it has less dominance. Most of the boys I have coached on the youth team are actually looking to go there, but with that coach I haven't gotten any interest from him.

I am thinking of just going to that first school and seeing the head coach. I am also going to look at some other schools in the valley though and see what is available there.
