Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Hey Coach Campbell... congrats on getting 7,000 coaches to the forum. This forum has made a major difference in my coaching career and in my life. Unlike other boards, I know that I'm talking to REAL coaches who have REAL coaching experience. So many of these other football discussion boards have people on the boards with homemade theories on the sport of football and are coaches who I know deep down inside are guys who pretend to be coaches.
I thank you, Coach Campbell, as well as Coach Easton, Coach Mountjoy, Coach Evancho, Coach Nicholson, and so many others for the contributions to this board. I have made great friends through this board and I cannot thank you enough, Coach Campbell, for starting this board. Can you believe it's been five years already? I got on this board in 2002 and have learned so much. This is the best discussion board in football. The coaches make this board great!

How does the talent level look so far at Clovis? What schools are on your schedule for the coming season?
What offense and what base D are you installing? I continue to pray daily for your success!

David and Popeye - What a pleasure to hear from you both. I certainly enjoyed our relationship there in Victoria and all that the two of you did. I'm getting settled in here in Clovis and enjoy it very much. The community and kids have been great. I will be back out at the end of may and would love to see ya. Coach Campbell
Coach Cambell - I have many of your videos and books. I just heard you speak in Long Beach a few weeks ago and picked up your Multiple Fronts Defensive Book. I am just a youth coach in Southern Cal, about 2 hours from Clovis. Is there anyway I can visit you during your spring ball to watch you install your defense? Thanks and email me if I can visit your practices. Thank in advance. JT

JT - It would be a pleasure to have you. We start spring football on May 20. and it would be a pleasure to have you. My number is 559-327-1095. Coach Campbell
Congratulations on 7,000. The massive number of coaches who contribute to this website is a testament to your committment to it (and football). Thank you. You, along with Coaches Easton, Mountjoy, Cella, Nicholson and countless others have had a tremendous impact on me as a coach. Thanks to all of you for all of your help.
How is your team coming along in this off-season workouts? Did y'all have spring practice or about to have it? Are you making any major changes in your offense or defense this year? Let us know if we can help you in any way.

Our players who are not out for a spring sport are working hard in the weightroom. They seem hungry to improve on last year. We don't have spring ball and actually I'm somewhat thankful for that since I am the head baseball coach, in addition to being the OC in the fall.
We are not making any major changes in our offense, that's for sure. We are a flexbone team and we have had tremendous success. We like to view our offense as a constant evolution of ideas. We are always looking to improve our offensive system, coaching techniques, etc. for the next season. However, we are always striving to maintain the integrity of the flexbone. So, if you looked at our offense from year to year, you would notice very little difference. However, if you looked at our offense 5 years ago and then looked at it today, there would be signs of change.
One part of our offense that we will be expanding upon is our 3-step game. Our QB from last year will be a junior and is a pretty good thrower. He had a lot of success with the 3-step game and he is a good athlete. Therefore, we are expanding our 3-step game to include a "boot" phase, like Coach DeMeo ran at Richmond (and probably still does). Since we are an option team and, of course, have the Play Action Passes that go with it, we will limit, if not eliminate, our drop back game. That way, we have a chance of getting good at the 3-step-boot while not subtracting from our option game.
What do you think? Are we thinking straight? Thanks again for your input and I look forward to your future posts.

I appreciate you guys mentioning me, although I am certain that I am not on the same level as Coach Campbell, Coach Mountijoy or Coach Easton when it comes to knowledge and experience. I have learned so much from all you great coaches on this site. I honestly feel guilty about not visiting much in the past year but that has been due to many things going on in my life over the past 10 months. Everything seems to getting back on track now though, and I plan to once again become a daily visitor to this great site.
I THINK YOUR PLAN FOR THE 3 STEP GAME IS SOUND AND SOLID! Having run the triple out of the bone and the "I" for a long time on the high school level, am fully convinced that EVERY pass should be off of option action of some kind if you are a true option team. QB boot is a great play and when used sparingly and at the right time, you sure can catch your opponent totally off guard with it! In all honesty we would break the bone occasionally and throw from a drop back set up point, but really I did it just to give the defense something else to have to prepare for. My game was always play action passing when we ran the option.
Glad to hear you are staying consistent with your offense with just minor tweaks and additions. Cuts way down on the teaching time and allows more for practicing EXECUTION of what you do best.
