Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches -- How many of you change the tempo throughout the game offensively? Hurry up, regulat, slow down. If so, do you have code names for each tempo and what are they? Thanks for your input.

Each week we have a three plays that we practice together as part of our "change of pace" package. During the game we have a code word from the sideline that when the kids hear it they know to run those three plays without a huddle or any substitution. Usually a power run, counter, pass.
If we need the team to quicken the pace (end of half, etc) you'll hear "Rabbit" yelled out from the sideline. "Turtle" means milk the clock! Usually don't have to do that much in HS.

There is nothing that will show a man's true character like the 2 yard line.
calls would be limited, yes. but for some offenses you don't need to make many calls. Also, if you are quick-snapping things, the defense is also unable to make adjustments. They are forced to line up quickly and go--I've seen plenty of defenses get run right over because they are not able to recognize an overload, backfield alignment, etc...or they are just not set. there are times when calls and adjustments need to be made, but I find quick snaps and hard-charging tempo are great in high school. Personally, in a veer option offense, I can have the QB very quickly see the bubble and adjust to to it while still going on a quick snap. For offenses like the wing-T, there is not any calls that need to be made. Adjustments are made by the coach and the playcall.
