Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have a few questions regarding your summer plans. In KY, you can basically practice in helmets and cleats every single day for as long as you want with the exception of a two week dead period. I am a little worried about burn out and how much is TOO much. We are going to do weights Monday - Th all summer. Then I am planning on having shorter (not two hrs) practice sessions. They will probably be non-traditional practices where each coach has an hour to work on some things. Maybe two days a week we may come together for some team type stuff.
Just curious to what you would do if you had the whole darn summer to do whatever you wanted!
We also are allowed 'full access' to our players, although without helmets. What has worked for us is to lift 3 x week and incorporate some sparq training during that time frame. In addition, we will have what we call "Wednesday Night Camp" once a week leading up to our practice start date. This is a 90 minute session for all players and coaches and it is instructional in nature - not as intense as when we officially start. At least 60 minutes is individual time and all of our basic fundamentals are put in place.
We also have been involved in 7-on-7 camps as well for our skills. In fact, we evolved to this because we wanted to do something for our linemen when our 7-on-7 camp used to be on Wednesday evenings. We get after it pretty good when we start, so we do not want to 'fry' our kids either.

Just had to add to this topic. I coach in MASS and we can not have any football contact with the players from Thanksgiving 2006 until August 20th 2007. We can only do strength and conditioning drills, weightroom contact and send them to camps, if they want football specific work. We can work with our players in a camp as long as there are less than 50% of the players you are coaching, more than 50% and you are violating the coach/player contact rules!!! We have been trying to get spring or summer practices/week to get a little more football knowledge to them before August comes around. I always get a kick out of some or most states that have spring practices in March or April and can do football stuff all summer, etc. like GC and TM are saying!!! Just a reply I wanted to get out.

Just to add to that, we can have 7 on 7 passing leagues, but it can only be coaches by a parent or former player, no coaches allowed. We do have that every summer 6 game schedule coached by former players for my team and a father. They even have rules for that to be careful with how we communicate with them or even use volunteer coaches that are there during the regular season.
GCTIGERS..I am also in KY and do not believe you can by the rules do any "team" activities. you can only work in position groups ie: OL/DL, skill players....you are not allowed to come together to run team O so to speak. NOt that some do not do it but according to the rules you cannot.
Rules say that you can be in cleats and helmets from the last day of school OR june 1 up until June 24th, the date of the beginning of dead period. Then you may start up again at July 10th. There are specific restrictions as to what type of equip you can wear.
you will have to tell me where it is written. i just met with my AD about this. In particular, how would u do passing leagues? if you do one after the dead period it is considered a "scrimmage".
7 on 7 is not the whole team...it is my understanding that as long as the whole team is not together you can do what you want....7 on 7...OL and RB's etc just not everyone. I could be wrong I have only been here 4 years, but I think that is how it reads.
