Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are going to try to incorporate some option into our base pro-I style offense. We run the usual plays from the I, such as: trap, lead, toss, counter, iso, a power play. Now, we would like to add a little option to the offense from the I. We messed with it a few years ago with some success, but then dropped it the following season for personnel reasons. We have a very athletic team with most of a very good offensive line returning. We are looking to install inside and outside veer in particular, a trap option, load option, and possibly speed option.
Anyone with any information, playbooks, or film they are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. If you need something in trade I have many playbooks to send out, on just about any type of offense and defense.
We are mainly looking for blocking assignments, installation ideas, or pointers.
We have just transitioned from the basic I formation plays to more of an option team. We hope to run our offense with one back this year, using a WR as the pitch man. We like to be able to throw the ball as well as run it. We started out with inside veer last year from the I. I think this is the best and most important option play to have since you can run it to the open or closed side.
I look forward to disussing this further.
Inside veer is a definite. We already run a give play to the fullback, so the logical next step would be to pull it and run the option with it. We would like to add the other types of option as well because the would help to compliment other parts of our offense.
We also from time to time line up in a double wing formation, with two wide receivers. We will motion one of the back to the TB spot and then run our base run plays. Adding the option would help to expand this formation for us as well.
I am looking forward to reading what others have to say.
There's that Iso option again... You're killin' us coach (meant with humor), what's the Iso option?
More specifically, it's easy to picture the TE motion ISOing on the LB. Is there a FB and a TB with the TE's motion coming from the wing? Who and what does the QB read? Double option or triple? Given the ISO is an up the middle play, is it kind of a variation of the midline?
Inquiring minds want to know! (Again, meant with humor Coach, you've been a great teacher for me and many others and have my utmost respect)

Coach you're a good man. The ISO option is designed to slot the tight end and use him as the iso person with motion by the tight end. The QB uses belly action to reverse out with the fullback as the ISO ball carrier except with ISO option the QB fakes the fullback and then runs option outside with the Tailback being the pitch man. Great way to hold the linebackers especially since this play is built off the fullback ISO with the tight end leading him through the hole. Coach Campbell
Got it! Use the TE to Iso with the FB, then compliment that with a double option reading the DE off the Iso fake. If the FB Iso has any success at all it should pull any outside linebacker in to fill on the Iso, nobody home for the pitch unless they've got a Safety running the alley to the pitch. If they do that, home run shot over the top in the hole the Safety leaves.
Great combo, Coach!

Coach4life this is an excellent play and each compliment each other well. I call the ISO with the TE lrading it 34-35 ISo and the Option 34-35 ISO Option. Coach Campbell
