Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I believe I have heard Bill talk about how a certain team noticed their average yards per run improved greatly from one back sets compared to two back sets. Does anyone have any similar data that backs this up? From a defensive standpoint I certainly think one back sets are tougher to prepare for (with one back, double tight, sets from option teams that can pass being the toughest to prep for).
The Colts are almost 100% ONEBACK, & they ran the ball down the Bears' THROATS in the Super Bowl. I believe the Bears were #1 ranked defensively.
By spreading them out in the 3 WR/1 TE/1 RB, AND, 2 WR/2 TE/1 RB sets (along with the THREAT of the pass) they "took the Bears apart"!
OUR experiences were similar the LAST year we tried to do 1 AND 2 back sets (1982). OVER a yard more per run, and about 5 yds more per pass completion (which is to be expected because you have an extra receiver up on or near the LOS) in the ONEBACK!
