Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches,
We've hit a snag with installing our 3-4/5-2 defense. While installing the Cover 2 Cover 4 we have the Will OLB as the formation adjuster to allow the Strong Safety stay in Cover 2/4. We also have the Sam OLB as the Rush end. So with keeping a simple rule install we have the Sam OLB go to the TE / TWO WR side but when in Open we run into a snag with having the Sam and Will on the same side, making our wekaside weak and unsound. Any suggestions?
Coach Hawg.
Coach, when you say open, are u refering to a Flexed TE w/ the Flanker to the same side?? If so, this is the 4mation strength and the passing strength...So in my opinion, your Will Trumps your Sam, and aligns to this side........:beer;
IF we are talking about a two-back set with twin WRs to one side and a lone TE to the other, you might bring your CB over to the twins side. This will allow you to leave SLB on the TE side.
I may be misunderstanding the question. If so, please disregard.
C - Flat
C - Flat
Will - Hook/Curl
Mike - Short Middle
Jack - Hook/ Curl
Sam - Rush
SS - Deep 1/2
FS - Deep 1/2
This just goes against the Rule with the Sam OLB aligning to the TE. But again I want to K.I.S.S. and maintain the Sam as a RUSH End. I know it would be easier to run the 4-3 but My personnel and my scheme overall is the 3-4/5-2
Got anything?
Coach Hawg
The Rule is the starting point...However you have to install a Norm in order to Tweek certain 4mations....Contrary to Popular Belief, most offenses Attack 4mation Strength...
The 2nd diagram looks much better, and this is the way that I suggest you align 2 this set.....You could even eagle down on the backside placing your tackle in a 3 and Sam in a 5.....Always Remember that this game is more like Chess not checkers.....:rose;
Just a suggestion, in cover two to a one receiver side, why not Sky that side? Roll your safety down and he is man on #1 on all short routes and the Corners plays 1/2 behind. This way you don't have to drop your SAM.
If you can "stop the run", the offense becomes predictable.
The SAM still will RUSH. We Check to this Stack...
Any comments?

Offensive guys will probably say they will bubble or rocket screen you if the OLB on the the 2 quick side blitzes.
Does stacking the LBs change their base keys?
This is just me... I would bring the SS down and over or just inside the Y. He then plays curl.
Strong corner plays a hard corner and has flat.
Strong DT has B gap.
FS rolls over and takes deep half on the 2 quick side.
BS corner and OLB have deep half and flat (corner locks up if matchup permits and W can be the an extra defender to use depending on opponent).
This gives you 9 players attacking the LOS / playing run first and you now can have 8 players close to the box instead of 7.
Just my opinion.
You have decided to allow Sam to call Rank over Will......Will Sam ever Cover?? If not, I see the TE getting Vertical very Quickly on your Safety because he is not being Rerouted which is a Major Component of Two Deep Coverage.....:clock;
