Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Out of your stack, how do you adjust to Trips when in man cover 1?
1. Do you adjust to #3 Strong with Free Safety, checking to 0?
2. Bring your weak OLB (rover or bandit) over and still stay in Cover 1?
Secondly, in Cover 1, we always bring 2 out of the 3 stacks and the other one has the RB out of the backfield. BUT if he motions, do you adjust with Free Safety? Or still let the Non Blitzer go with him as he motions?
We align the backside flank on number 3, and if the back motions, the FS would be the adjuster and the Backer who is assigned to him(not Blitzing) would look to Rob the first crossing route in the Low Hole of the Secondary...:cool;
When you see a trips or even a quads, what is the philosophy of moving any of the stack backers vs. bringing your FS over from the top or rolling a spur to the strong side? Last week, at camp, we got beat on bubble screen to the outside because vs. trips we roll the FS to the strong side but leave him his usualy 12 yards off the ball. We play the "nipple" with the spur to the strong side (between the inside two receivers). He was blocked down, as was the corner, and they got the edge. Took 7 yards before our FS could get there. He always made the tackle (because he is our best player), but we were burned like that.
I have heard from other coaches to never check out of the stack and always maintain the Sam, Mike, and Will backers in the middle, however, we were getting beat outside on screens. Runs were no issues when we got spread out...only those screens...
they align in 3x1 and motion to 2x2. If your spur now has to go with the motion man and they run jet to that motion man, you are chasing, instead of having the spur waiting for the jet.

we run cover three on the trips side with our spur in the flats and the corner and free over the top we place our spur inside nuber 2 on the trips side and have him cocked inside facingthe qb when he see the qb take a one step drop and looks to the bubble he then checks number 3 if he is not bubbling then it is number one we tell him to fight upfeild and try to break up the passor take the kill shot on the screen man
since he is inside cocked he shouldnt be blocked by number 2 since it would be clipping and he should read the backfeild quick enough and have number 3 in his sight so he will know whats goiing on
no one had any luck with the bubble screen against us at camp last week we picked 2 and the rest were incompletes or TFL I like the check three because it takes a lot of the worry about the crossing routes out of the trips
depending on the team we may stay some 1
oh ya thanks for all the help you guys have given me I love the 30 stack now

JefeDk, I think it depends on if you want to Pressure the QB by keeping 6 guys stacked, or if you want to play Pass Coverage, and Pressure the Receivers...Situations will require you to do both...Remember you have the Joystick.......
How far off are your Corners, Spurs, and FS in the trips alignment? I like your idea on facing him inside towards the QB. Have you ever had a team run the bubble screen to #2 as opposed to #3? What do you do with funnel screen?

I want my corners to be at least 7 yds off against trips since we are checking three on the trips side. I want the spur to be as close to the los as possible to jump the quick pass, and the screen plus he becomes a pain to block, since he has his back to number 2. That makes number 3 responsible for the kickout on him if they run to the trips side that frees a backer to run his lanes. The screen to number 2 that is something that we will try to pick up on film. Since he is crowding the line it makes it hard to throw he will get depth and try to disrupt the screen no matter who is running. The Free he is about 7 to 10 yds off the ball in between the number 3 and the tackle.
I hope that this information helps

here is what we do:
0
0 0 0
0 0 0 x 0 0 0
E N E D

B M B
C C

That is our alignment. Trips side is Strong.
Our coverage is: Free- 1/4
Strong Corner- 1/4
Weak Corner- Man on #1 to weak side
Up front we slant our d-line to the trips side. Blitz the Dog on the weak side. Our weak Bat picks up the back if he swings weak, and our strong bat picks him up if he swings strong. If the QB breaks contain to the strong side our Strong Bat goes after him, and our linebackers run and rotate.
