Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are an I formation team. We run trap, lead, power, iso, toss, and counter. We wanted to sprinkle in a touch of option this season. After meeting, doing some research, and looking at the overall idea of what we are trying to accomplish we decided on the trap/freeze option.
If you were in our situation, what option do you think would be the best? We like the trap option because it is blocked exactly like our trap, and our opponents know that we like to trap. We will probably trap at least 10 - 15 times per game. The only thing that would change for us on trap option would be the QB footwork. He would take that big take away from the center and clear the midline and ride the FB. And, then pull it and option the playside DE.
We are just looking for suggestions and any help would be greatly appreciated. I wanted to add that we face a lot of 4-4 cover 3 or 1 teams, that is the dominant defense in this area. We will also face 2 or 3 teams that run a version of the 52, and one team that runs a 33 stack.

Coach vs any odd front team I would suggest running inside veer away from the tight end and then run the lead option towards the tight end. The trap option is a good play for the "I". Do you slot your tight end at all? Coach Campbell
I talked to some of the other staff today and I was mistaken. Towards the end of the year, we did start to slot our tight end from time to time. We would motion him and then lead him through the hole we were running. We would then have the FB follow through the hole and give to the TB. Sort of a double lead block for the TB.
I have seen on here that you have mentioned the Iso option, while motioning the tight end. Exactly how do you block that? We see a majority of 4-4 defenses, with a 1 technique to the weak side and a 3 technique to the tight end side. We have for the most part decided on the inside veer and load option for this year. But, we would like to know more about the Iso option as well.

Hello all,
I just started the first ever youth tackle football team in my city and we will be playing 6 other youth teams that have been established for the past 10 years in the next rival city. All my volunteer coaches say that they have played highschool ball but when asked about putting together a play book for the I formation they kind of skirt the issue. Im just a dad who wants to help the community so I put this team together but if anyone wants to help us out with their playbook with advice we would greatly appreciate it. Also if you have great playbooks for Defense I wouldnt kick you in the shin. lol My players really appreciate all your time and help guys they are 6-12 yr olds with alot of heart. My email is Clovisyouthfootball@yahoo.com thanks again for everything.
Having had the opportunity to work with Coach Campbell over the last 4 years, I can say without any hesitation whatsoever that you will simply not find a more supportive coach anywhere in the country when it comes to your youth program. I am e-mailing you my offensive playbook (10-12) from last season which utilizes Coach Campbell's terminology and is I-formation based.
The best advice I can give you is to get to know and learn everything you can from Jerry Campbell! Best of luck with your new program - please let me know if I can be of any help to you in the future.
