Coach Campbell,
I am interested in learning more about the Iso Option that you spoke about before. I have a few questions about blocking assignments and those kinds of things.
We face mainly 4-4 teams. We get a 5 technique from the DE's and the DT's are in a 1 tech to the weak side and 3 to the TE side. We do have a formation in which we put the TE in the slot and motion him across the formation. We usually lead him and the FB through the hole for the TB. However, we see the advantage of being able to give to the FB with the TE leading as well as the ability to pull it and run the speed option.
What do we do about the playside DE if he is in a 5 tech? I see the blocking as this: (TE is motioning from left to right). We are assuming that the DT will not flip, so we will be running it to the 1 tech DT.
LT: turn out on backside 5 tech.
LG: turn out on backside 3 tech.
C: backside LB
RG: down on 1 tech.
RT: reach the playside 5 tech.?? (if you turn him out you turn him to option; if you hook him you may block him into the give)
TE: lead on playside LB
Option the playside OB??
How would we run it if the 1 and 3 techniques adjust to the motion and we are now running it to the 3 tech?
LT: turn out on backside 5 tech.
LG: reach 1 tech.
C: backside LB
RG: reach 3 tech.
RT: reach 5 tech.
TE: lead on playside LB
Option the playside OB??
Any help would be greatly appreciated. We really like this option because it compliments something that we already do, plus we are looking to install a little option this season.
