Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I think that the Double Slot is the most versatile offense out there..Looking at possible motions it would be simple to set up in the DS and motion into EVERY offense known. It seems to me to be a nightmare offense for the D.
I am however learning and not as knowledgable as many of you. What say ye ole Knights of the round table?
Please offer confirmation (why) or disagree (why) and what do you think is the most versatile...this is what I want..I do not want to be a run team. I do not want to be a pass team. I want my boys to be whatever type team they need to be to win that week.
Coach - reading up on offenses can only tell you so much. The way to go is to VISIT (& observe) someone who RUNS the style of offense YOU are most interested in.
I firmly do not believe you can master a system thru books & videos. The "Double Slot" is fine, DEPENDING on what you want to RUN from it, & how it fits YOUR personnel. "Double Slot" can be "FLEXBONE TRIPLE OPTION", "RUN & SHOOT", etc. Determine what TYPE of offense YOU desire to run from Double Slot (according to YOUR personnel, & what you feel YOU can teach best. In the long run - it will not be what YOU know that matters, but rather, what you are able to get across to your PLAYERS.
Are you talking about the flexbone (e.g. Air Force), the double-wing (2 TEs everyone in tight) or a 4 WR "run and shoot" type offense (or something else)?
It seems to be very much akin to the Flexbone. More spread than DW but not a true spread. Seems to offer everything from power runs to wide open spread. That is what seems to be so attractive to me.
