Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Our region is a heavy 2 back run region. The only passing game they show is deep routes. Should I even consider the 3-4? I plan on involving the Safeties in the run game. I'm very short on DTs, but have an abundance of DBs.
If you know the 3-4 best, I say run it. If not, run what you know. I think the 5-2 / 3-4 is great if you believe in it, and I think the 5-2 is great against 2 back teams. We are also often very small, especially in the DL. I would rather put a fast guy at DT and Nose than a big slow one.
You can have a dominant run defense with only three down lineman. Our preferred way is the 46 with a stand up 5 tech. on the weak-side. As Coach Mountjoy states, this can be combined with "robber" coverage by the FS to give you, effectively, 9 in the box.
