Our midline rules are applicable to any defense that has a B-gap player on the LOS (DL, blitzing LB, etc). Here are the rules with the 5-3 application in parenthesis.

Offensive Line
PST = Outside (DE against the 5-3)
PSG = Inside (slanting nose to MLB)
C = Post, away (Nose)
BSG = Inside (slanting nose to MLB to BSLB)
BST = Inside, Hinge (seal the B-gap, hinge back if no one shows)

Backfield
PSHB = Duck in B-gap, 1st LB from inside-out (look for MLB, then OLB)
BSHB = Orbit motion, pitch path

I can give you NAVY'S "Midline Rules" & you will have to figure out how it applies to the various 5-3's.

We do not run this offense, but am studying it from a standpoint of having to DEFEND it:

NAVY MIDLINE RULES (I am not familiar with ALL the terms):

BSWR = CUTOFF

BSA (SLOT) = ANCHOR DOWN

BSG = BSLB

C = BASE

PSG = VEER FOR PSLB (TO BSLB)

PST = VEER FOR PSLB TO BACKSIDE CHASE. #2 ON TWIRL & WHITE & LEAD.

PSA (SLOT) = ARC #3. PSLB ON TWIRL & WHITE. BASE #3 ON LEAD

PSWR = STALK. BLOCK INSIDE RUN.

QB = MIDLINE FOOTWORK. READ #1

FB = MIDLINE TRACK. READ DL INSIDE #1

It is not diagrammed vs 5-3, but perhaps you can figure it out.
