Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
What do some you other coaches do when you see a DE pinching so hard to the playside that he's beating your PST to B gap......OR......he pinching directly behind your Tackle and pushing him off his LB course? Does your tackle fight through the pinch and still climb? Does he wait and climb behind him? Does he lock on the pinch and drive him down? We've got our solution but I'm interested to hear what others do.
Navy teaches the OT to take a lateral step toward the ILB and rip to the earhole of the ILB. There is no way that an OT should EVER get beat by a DE, even if he is in a 4 tech. The OT knows the count and knows where he's going. If the OT you have can't do the job, find another one. If you don't have another one, work with him until he does it right.

I had posted the same question in the gun option forum, with little response. We are having issues with 4 techniques crashing our tackles down off their LBer paths. The team we played last week was doing this and their LBers were flowing hard to QB. One solution we had was to give the dive and let hime cut back on the Lber as he was over pursuing. This worked well but was a short-term solution. The other thing we did was used our slot to crack on the LBer which solved the problem. This only worked because they were in a 2-deep shell. If there was a strong safety, we wouldn't have been able to use our slot for the LBer.
Wildcat,
We've actually been doing what Coach Cella was saying above. They get through most times when they decide they want to but sometimes they get lazy. I push them and they're getting better. You can insert the slot (which is the way the Triple should be blocked) on the SAM, then pitch off the SS. If the LBs are flowing that fast, call Counter. If they're crashing the hole immediately, call a playaction pass or a dump pass.
Last week the sam was walked out on our slot and they were 2 deep so we were able to send the slot to the mike which worked well for us. The problem is, this week we are playing against a 5-2, cover three. I have to send the slot to the SS, so our tackles just HAVE to get to the backer, but we have the same issue: lazy and poor tech. We are getting better though.
