We have run counter trey out of flexbone for several years. It has always been one of our top plays. Email me if you would like to discuss the details of this play. I will do whatever I can to help.

We were 11-2 last year in Missouri Class 2. Lost in the semifinals!

A way to run it (not THE way) is to have no motion, fake to the FB, pull the OG and OT and hand to the wb. pulling OG kicks out, OT leads. FB fills.
You can run it away from motion, but you lose the motioning wb as a blocker on the playside.
You can also run it to the FB with the wb and OG pulling. FB must take a jab step so he does not beat the wb to the hole. This can be done with or without motion.
It is an EXCELLENT play, IMO.

a team in my league orbit motion the wb on the playside the QB will then fake the toss to the wb that is in the orbit motion and then hand underneath to the other wb for the counter trey going back the other way..........pretty successful against some teams.......we just put our DT's in 3-techs to get penetration and the playside DE had to squeeze down hard to close the running lane
Run the play similar to as if you're running dive option. Pull your backside guard and tackle. The fullback's aiming point is just outside the pulling tackle so that after taking the ride fake he actually fills for the pulling linemen, picking up the 3 technique or the DE. Wingback on the side of the pulling linemen takes a big jab step out and back to get some additional depth--getting depth is crucial--you might even have him cheat his alignment a little deeper to begin with. ( Put your other wingback in pitch motion just as you would if running option.) Once the wingback takes the long, deep jab, he comes back inside the QB and takes the handoff (have also seen it where he goes behind the QB), following the pulling linemen. Pulling guard kicks out the DE, tackle turns up inside the kickout and wingback with ball follows the tackle. If guard is forced to log block, tackle goes around log and wingback follows tackle. Great play, even better if you're successful running the option. It will certainly slow down pursuit.
