We play a team later in our schedule that runs what we have termed the "elephant" offense. They line up foot to foot with no splits. This takes out the blitz game completely. Then, they have a FB right on the QB's backside who slams it up in either hole. He maybe gets 5 carries a game...he does not concern me. Then, they have two wingbacks (aligned behind the tight ends) who come in arc motion and take pitches (inside the TE kick out block), power with BSG and BST pulls or a counter (scissors) play back to the weak WB. They might throw 3 times per game.
Has anyone ever defended this type of offense? We want to stay in 35, but they have some horses on the OL that make it tough to combat with our DE not being as tough as their OL.
We have toyed with sending the spurs on flat paths at the back shoulder of the WB (essentially a 5 man front), still slanting the DL toward motion and then letting the stack backers fill the gaps. The C's and FS would play cover 3 behind them. Or, we send the corners and have the FS stay deep for pass.
Like I have seen on here when playing Wing-T teams...pick your poison. That philopsophy worked for us last week vs. a Wing T team that simply could not toss the rock.
