Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Defensive gurus, lets talk about defending the single wing. They run kind of a bucksweep, wedge, crisscross. No more than 6 inch line splits so its difficult to penetrate. On sweep strong they pull the weak guard and end and do not block back with center. All ideas appreciated.
I just sent something on defending the DOUBLE WING to a coach on this site, that I would be glad to forward to you. We use the same defenses vs SINGLE WING. Just need to adjust to UNBALANCED LINE (unless the SW has a balanced line - which many do) - which is no big deal (consider the "longside" Guard as the middle of the formation).

Single wing is "4 yds and a cloud of dust" offense sure enough. If they have the right personnel and execute the offense right, it can be a long night even in todays game for their opponents. YOU HAVE TO BE PHYSICAL, STRONG UP THE MIDDLE TO DEFEND THE SPINNER SERIES AND BE READY TO PLAY SMASH MOUTH ALL NIGHT LONG! IF THEY GO UNBALANCED AS BILL MENTIONS, YOU HAD BETTER BE READY AS THEY WILL GO ON QUICK COUNTS HOPING TO CATCH YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHIFT TO STRENGTH LOTS OF TIMES. IF THEY HAVE HAVE BEEN RUNNING WITH A SPLIT END ESPECIALLY, LOOK FOR THEM TO RUSH TO THE LINE UNBALANCED AND GO ON THE QUICK COUNT TO CATCH YOU WITH YOUR BRITCHES DOWN!
