Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are coming up against a team that has 6" splits on the o-line. They run out of the slot I formation. However, they bring their X to the same side as the Y (which makes him ineligible) then shuffle motion the slot back across the formation. They also offset the FB to the strong side. They will send the FB and slot back through the same hole (B, C, or D) with the TB following. They also option that way, and every now and then, run a weakside counter. They do not throw very well at all, so we'll probably play just lock on and defend the run. They are pretty big and just try to move the pile 4 yards at a time. The TB is pretty slippery. I have a couple of ideas, but would love to hear what anyone else has to offer.
Have your kids bearcrawl against the 6" splits up front as that will give them at least a chance to beat the close splits by staying LOW AND JAMMING UP THE RUNNING LANES. lOOK FOR THEM TO START BOUNCING IT OUTSIDE AT THAT POINT. Have your team ready to defend against a lead blocker (FB leads through For RB as you described) by working on shedding technique of the lead and exposing the RB. As soon as you do this, they will probably start running a belly series of running the FB through one hole and the ball through another. I know that is what I would do and be ready for them to try and keep you off balance by mixing the two plays up so you will not know what is coming next. WORK EXTRA HARD AND SMART IN PRACTICE THIS WEEK! Just a suggestion s always.

With only 4 elidgibles (not including QB) you can run a modified ODP (weak OG is the center for numbering purposes).
