Does anyone use the rugby style punt? I am looking at putting it in this week as a change up and to take the ball out of a very dangerous returners hands. I need to know formation, coahing points and execution.
Thanks

Coach I use the rugby style punt using a trey set which is a tight end and to wide receivers to the same side with a tight end to the back side. Our QB is our punter and he receives the ball from 8 yards and will punt it from a deoth of 5 yards. The QB rolls towards the trey set. Many plays can come of of this. look forward to discussing this further. Coach CAmpbell
Am I trying to use this the right way as a way to neutralize a great returner, or is this not a good scheme for this? Also my punter is right footed should I only Rugby style to the right?

Rugby kick to your right the offensive line will use a 1 foot split. The other thing about this is that they can't get there returner on the field. Coach CAmpbell
We line up in a 4 wide set, 2 slots, 2 wide, we keep our tailback and qb in the backfield, one lead blocks for the other depending on who we are going to let kick, we try to make it look as close to a sweep as possible, the defense has to block all 4 of our wide guys or risk getting their return man killed, if they rush the kick we can toss the ball over their heads, if they block the wideouts we get very little rush on the kicker, the 2 in the backfield help prevent an overload to one side or the other. Every punt is potentially a run pass kick option.
