We play several spread teams that will line up with an empty backfield. Three receivers on one side and two on the other or four and one. How would y'all defend this?
"It's like novocain. Just give it time, it always works!"
Having run a 3 x 2 spread successfully for 20 plus years, I will tell you the best way is to man up straight across the board, play bump and run, and pray they don't have better athletes than you have. If they do, your in for a tough night. Most DC's seem to think that every time they see an empty nest, the only answer is to send the house. THAT IS NOT THE ANSWER AND WE PRAY FOR THAT APPROACH ON GAME NIGHT.

Against empty we are going to mix coverage and mix blitzes I never want to send more than 2 backers but you never know which 2 I have found that I can bring my spurs and drop my two outside backers into a flat coverage when I need a sack that play won us a ball game friday night since it is easy to disguise and it isnt a call that the offense is prepared for out of spread also play with your front 3 on slants that keeps the offense guessing
You may be a King or a Street Sweeper but everyone dances with the Grim Reaper
