Coaches first off I want to thank you for all the help that I recieved from this site this year. We already set a school record by opening the season with 3 straight shut outs. We allowed a team to score on us the 4th week but held on the 1 yd line to win the game.
Ok enough of that now to buisness we are facing a team that runs the bubble screen to the # three reciver in trips how are you guys defending this I am attacking the #2 reciever with the spur and letting him read the #3 reciver I told him to rip whichever way that kid is going and pursue down the line to make the tackle..... what do you guys think?
You may be a King or a Street Sweeper but everyone dances with the Grim Reaper
coach we started playing a check 10 look. we play man on the backside with the corner. Dog lines up behing the tackle 8-10 yds deep. He still has run responsibilities to the split side speed option etc. At the snap he if he reads pass he will drop to the middle of the field to help out on 4 verts. Our trips side we play the old cloud cover look with the free safety and the corner the dog lines up in his normal allignment. We get a toss look, bubble look and a slip look so we read the #! and #3 reciever if #1 breaks back the corner goes back and the free safety comes up for the slip screen look. If #3 bubbles we come up with the corner and roll over with the free safety If you dont stay deep with some one they will pump the bubble or slip and hit someone deep. This coverage really seems to help.
We can't throw it vs a Cover 3 team that plays the S/S between #1 & #2 (counting from outside-in), & a ILB from the reduced side between #2 & #3. PERIOD!
PS: Press/Man with people up tight on #1, #2, & #3 is tough also - as is Cover 2 with a hard corner on #1 & the OLB triangling #2 & #3.
Reaper we cover all 3 receivers by bring over the back side flank, and having the FS hang on the side.... We attack it as we would Toss Sweep.....Backers inside out, and Secondary outside in......
