Hey guys,
I would like to get some ideas on the best way to line the D up in a 6-3 against the wishbone and off tackle plays.
This Saturday we are playing the #1 team in the league. This is 10 year old youth ball. A little about us and who we are playing.
Them First.
The team we are playing never passes. They hardly ever go wide but mostly go off tackle and 90% of the plays are in a wishbone. The O line in a 4 point stance and the splits are very wide from tip of fingers to tip of fingers. They block very well and are a very well oiled machine. They win not by long runs or passes but by getting 3 to 4 yards a carry. They keep the D on the field and eat the clock up.
Now Us.
We have the #1 defense in the league. I normally run a 5-3 with a safety but feel I can move my safety up because they don't pass thus have 9 guys in the box.
My ends are fast and the Line backers are big fast and strong. I have speed at the guard positions to the point some kids can't get the ball off because our guys can get in the gaps and blow up the back field. I also know when we scrimed against this team I ran my 5-3 and they double teamed my NT and he could not get in the back field. Another reason to go with a 6-3.
I am looking for where I should line the D up to defend against there offense. I feel I have the personnel to do the job I am just not sure where to line them up. I figure the gaps but they know all teams will line up in the gaps because they have wide splits. They are very good at blocking those gaps. I want to keep them off balance. I also want to bring the heat where possible.
Thanks guys in advance.
